Goal

The Chicago Help Initiative is a hyperlocal not-for-profit that provides hot meals, access to resources and support for positive peer groups for homeless and those in need.

We believe that each element of what we provide is essential to every individual building a better life – we need to be in places that respect our dignity, to have access to the resources that we lack, and live within relationships that give us the comfort and resilience that come from connection.

We also focus on being a part of building the whole neighborhoods that we work in - directly assisting homeless and others that seek help at community meals and food pantries of their choice,  while training volunteers with local organizations to be the ones helping, both strengthening the organization they volunteer for while adding resilience and capacity at a hyper local level. Currently we are in seven locations in different neighborhoods, expanding to 12 by the end of 2023.

Volunteer with us and learn more about how we help others.

The Chicago Help Initiative

The Chicago Help Initiative (CHI) is a consortium of business, residential, religious, social service, institutional and volunteer leaders striving to promote an atmosphere of dignity and compassion toward those in need by providing access to food, health services, shelter and employment. We are largely volunteer driven and staffed and locally supported. We serve an evening meal that also connects homeless to the best social services we can partner with and connects them to each other and to us through peer groups that revolve around common interests like improving education, art, yoga, book clubs and looking for work.
